CHINA (HONG KONG). Cathay Pacific Airways will open its first downtown store on 4 December at Hong Kong’s Cityplaza shopping mall. The airline company described the retail space as an “online to offline to online shopping experience”.
The new space offers a range of products from the Cathay Pacific offer, including Cathay-branded merchandise, from a special-edition co-branded Cathay x Start From Zero upcycled galley container to Christmas-themed products. The store features flexible check-out and multi-touchpoint delivery options.
Director Customer Lifestyle Paul Smitton said: “The opening of our first retail space is a hugely exciting moment for Cathay and a major milestone in our 76-year history. We are always looking for ways to build more meaningful opportunities to engage with our customers beyond our online platform, and to help them elevate their lives, and this fantastically designed retail space will allow us to do both of these things in a new and innovative way.
“When we launched our Cathay master brand in 2021, our vision was to bring together all that we love about travel and lifestyle. Shopping is a core pillar of this concept, and this experiential space gives us a fantastic platform upon which to showcase the very best of the premium travel lifestyle that Cathay represents.”
Customers can shop with Cathay in four steps. First, they can scan product QR codes using the Product Scanner on the Shopping page of the Cathay app to learn more about items in the store. Second, they add items to their online shopping cart. Third, they choose how they wish to pay, using Asia Miles, cash or a combination of both with Miles Plus Cash. Fourth, they select their preferred delivery option, home delivery or pick up at the store.
In addition to being able to enjoy flexible payment options, customers can also earn miles for their next trip or purchase whenever they shop in store. Cathay members can earn up to one mile for every HK$4 spent, with an additional one mile for every HK$2 spent when they use the Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard.
To celebrate the opening of the new shop, Cathay is giving away up to six million miles in giveaways. For the rest of the year, customers who purchase items in shop can have the chance to get up to 3,000 bonus miles, while the top three total spenders from now until 3 January 2023 will receive 100,000 bonus miles.
