A new chapter: Furla launches Men’s collection in travel retail

Furla will preview a new collection for men at next week’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore (B2, J22).

The FW 17/18 Furla Men’s collection draws inspiration from a range of styles including sporty and preppy. Three lines – Leisure, Business and Design – are offered and selected styles will be on show in Singapore.

Furla Global Travel Retail Director Gerry Munday said: “I’m very proud of this new chapter for travel retail. Every year the men’s collection gets stronger and more relevant, and every year we are seeing increased demand for men’s products in travel retail.”

The Leisure line echoes aviators, explorers and bikers. The hallmark Furla Ulisse Backpack features raw-edged leather handles, and gorilla, leopard, frog, crocodile, wolf and ant animal prints. Bands, said to combine design and functionality, mean customers can personalise their bags with a detachable pouch in their chosen animal print or a range of other designs and colours.

Business, described as “urban and dynamic”, includes the Furla Atlante Briefcase. The case has a detail in its metallic clasp, which resembles that of Furla’s Metropolis bag, but snaps open like a classic men’s suitcase.

The Atlante is available in monochrome and animal print. The Furla Marte Briefcase has a removable tablet case, which can be mixed and matched with the collection’s other pouches.

The Design line is said to offer a new take on two Furla classics. The ‘preppy’ Furla Giove takes its style from collegiate Americana and Furla Icaro has been revitalised with splashes of acid-bright colours associated with skater culture and urban parkour sessions.

Belts in reversible and adjustable styles are available, including various widths in classic and ‘special’ styles.

Keyrings and charms, featuring bears and other jungle animals, are also included in the collection. The ‘Man Camou-Jungle’ capsule comprises nine animal print bandanas. Textiles complement the leathergoods, with classic patterns “re-interpreted” and inspired by sports and a college-style mood, Furla said.

A range of sunglasses include drop-shaped lenses in the aviator model and squarer styles. All glasses have slim metallic frames and “ultra-flat” lenses in grey, bronze and military green. Special editions include graphic patterns such as a stretch of woven bamboo on the front of the mirrored lenses.
