“A strategic platform”: Clé de Peau Beauté opens boutique at Kansai International

Shiseido Travel Retail Japan has unveiled its new Clé de Peau Beauté boutique at Kansai International Airport. The 56sq m Terminal 1 store, located in the KIX Airside Avenue, represents a new concept for the brand in travel retail.

Unlocking the world of Clé de Peau Beauté: The Japanese cosmetics brand opens a standalone store at Kansai International Airport.

The brand owner said the Kansai International boutique represents “another positive step forward for the brand’s growth in Asia” after Clé de Peau Beauté partnered with CDF-Sunrise Duty Free for a new store this month at Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 2.

“As the most frequently used airport by Chinese travellers in Japan, and with 38% of its total travel retail sales generated by perfumes & cosmetics, Kansai International Airport was selected as a key strategic platform for the brand’s expansion plans,” Clé de Peau Beauté said.

The brand noted its strong performance in travel retail in Japan, with double-digit growth in sales in 2018 compared to 2017.

Clé de Peau Beauté’s new boutique features counters for specialist treatments.

Shiseido Travel Retail Japan Vice-President Sales & Marketing Jun Kuwamoto said: “We are delighted to bring this boutique to Kansai International Airport. From conversations with our customers, who expressed their expectation for our travel retail stores to have the ultimate experience with hospitality and specialist services, our team worked hard to develop this concept, with the inspiration and support from our landside operations team.

“We are proud to create an interactive space, where our customers can unlock the world of Clé de Peau Beauté for themselves.”

Fancy a quiet moment? The boutique also treats its customers to a relaxing corner.

The boutique features a full line-up of products along with airport-exclusive skincare sets. Passengers have the option of makeup services at a dresser and beauty specialists can conduct a ‘Radiance Check’ skin test. Hand massage and tea services are also available.

Beauty specialists offer a ‘Radiance Check’ which measures skin conditions such as tone, texture and firmness.

A GWP offer to mark the opening includes a 30ml Essential Refining Essence for customers who spend over JPY10,000 (US$92) and 5g La Crème for those who spend over JPY30,000 (US$276).
