US. Food & beverage and travel retail specialist Areas has opened Bud & Marilyn’s, its second restaurant at Philadelphia International Airport.
Bud & Marilyn’s is an established Philadelphia dining venue and its American-influenced menu is now being brought to air passengers at a 3,600sq ft space in terminal C.
Created by Chef Marcie Turney and business partner Valerie Safran, the eatery specialises in US classics, focusing on simple comfort foods. Bud & Marilyn’s, whose first restaurant opened in 2015, is named after Turney’s grandparents, who ran a restaurant in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Operating from 5am to 10pm, the restaurant offers an all-day menu including vegetarian and gluten-free options. Specials include Huevos Rancheros, Fried Chicken Biscuit Sandwich, Crispy Cheese Curds, B&M Fried Chicken Sandwich, Fried Chicken n’ Waffles and Nashville Hot Chicken Buns. Healthier options are also available such as Oregano Lemon Chicken and Seared Salmon.
Cocktails are also a Bud & Marilyn’s speciality, with its own creations including Blood Orange Margarita and the Lakeside, which features vodka, Crème Yvette, lime juice, and mint. There is also an extensive wine and beer list.
Marcie Turney said: “It’s been an exciting opportunity to bring Bud & Marilyn’s to the Philadelphia airport. In 2015, when we opened the original location in Philadelphia’s Midtown Village, our intention was to create an experience for guests that was both familiar and comfortable – and sometimes that’s just what you’re looking for when you’re traveling, so it felt like the perfect fit.”

Areas US CEO Sergio Rodriguez said he was thrilled to bring what he describes as one of Philadelphia’s favourite restaurants to the airport. He added: “Bud & Marilyn’s is an amazing example of the unique vibe created by the best neighbourhoods in the city, and we’ve put together an offer that is sure to exceed expectations.”
Areas also operates California Pizza Kitchen in Philadelphia International Terminal E in partnership with airport retail developer MarketPlace PHL.
