UAE. Abu Dhabi Duty Free has introduced a pharmacy on the ground floor of the shopping complex at Abu Dhabi International Airport in what it describes as a new departure for travel retail within the Middle East.

The pharmacy is situated in a new shop that became available between the Food and Confectionery shop and the Oasis cafeteria following expansion work. “Extensive studies indicated that this shop would be best assigned to a pharmacy outlet,” the retailer said.

The new 25sq m outlet trades 24 hours a day, manned by professional pharmacists. It is a joint venture project between Abu Dhabi Duty Free and a well-established local pharmaceutical company.

Abu Dhabi Duty Free Managing Director Mohamed Mounib said: “We have carried out a great deal of market research and identified a need for a pharmacy outlet within Abu Dhabi Duty Free. Early indications are very positive, and the shop is proving to be very popular indeed.”
