Lux-Airport’s Jérôme Le Bris and Aelia Duty Free’s Yves Guerre present the Stoffel family, travelling to the Canary Islands, with a special gift as the first shoppers at the new operation |
LUXEMBOURG. Aelia Duty Free opened its first three stores at Luxembourg Airport on Sunday 1 November. It follows the company’s capture of the core category duty free concession in July.
The outlets will cover 849sq m of floor space and Lagardère Travel Retail is investing more than €2 million to develop its offer at Luxembourg Airport.
Work should be completed by January, when the retailer will unveil the latest stores featuring its “˜next generation’ concept. A further store, House of Delights, should be completed in Spring 2016. This will offer delicatessen and regional products.
The first customer was given a bottle of Champagne and Luxembourg Crémant wine and a box of chocolates by Aelia Duty Free Operations Manager Yves Guerre, plus a voucher for one week’s free parking by airport Commercial Director Jerome Le Bris.
Lux-Airport General Manager Johan Vanneste said: “I am delighted with the opening of the first Aelia Duty Free points of sale, which constitute an important step forward in the terminal transformation process. During the preparatory phases of the project, the duty free teams of Lagardère Travel Retail stood out thanks to their great professionalism and extreme motivation.
“I extend special thanks to the lux-Airport team whose involvement has been decisive in this achievement. I invite one and all, passengers, local customers, employees of the airport and airlines, to come and discover what awaits them in the Aelia Duty Free shops.”
