NEW ZEALAND. Aelia Duty Free New Zealand, operated by Lagardère AWPL, is celebrating the FIFA Women’s World Cup with a month-long event featuring a host of exclusive shopping offers, mega deals and cash prizes in its stores at Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown airports.
As part of the campaign, customers who spend NZ$20 on their Visa card in any of the dozens of Lagardère AWPL stores across New Zealand may qualify for an online penalty shootout competition.
The online penalty shoot-out competition offers NZ$100,000+ of instant prizes and a grand prize of NZ$3,000.
Lagardère AWPL has partnered with major FIFA affiliates for this event including Velocity Brand Management (licensors for FIFA), Coca Cola (official drinks sponsor), Smiths chips (official snack sponsor) and Visa (official payment partner).
Lagardère AWPL Co-CEO Przemyslaw Lesniak said: “We’re proud to be bringing the FIFA Women’s World Cup experience to customers in all 39 of our stores across New Zealand, especially for international visitors coming to New Zealand.
“With visitor numbers fast growing compared to last year, international travel is returning quickly to New Zealand shores. International travel is back. Shopping at duty free is back.”
Aelia Duty Free is also featuring special promotions that include exclusive partnerships with global and New Zealand brands.
- Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum, launched exclusively into global travel retail in July. It was created by Firmenich Senior Perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie and is centred around three distinct vanilla notes.
- Fragrance Multi Buy Offers – shoppers may avail of -20% discounts when they buy two fragrances.
- M&H Honey – This manuka honey is sourced from over 4,000 hives in the central North Island and handcrafted by a family of beekeepers. It is available at Aelia Duty Free Auckland and Dunedin airports.
- Anoint Skincare – Made in Kerikeri, it is an artisan skincare range formulated using essential oils, premium butter, rejuvenating botanicals and mineral-rich natural salts. The collection is available at Aelia Duty Free Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch airports and coming soon to Dunedin International Airport.
- Sweet Disorder – Described as Kiwi confectionery at its best, the brand is a popular treat that comes in a bottle. It specialises in confectionary gifts and sweet remedies and is available at Aelia Duty Free Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch airports and coming soon to Dunedin International Airport.

The competition, open to anyone involved in the aviation and travel retail sector (mandatory) and free of charge, is based on match predictions for the 32-team 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The tournament began on 20 July and runs until 20 August in Australia and New Zealand.

Every cent of sponsorship goes to charity. Additionally, The Moodie Davitt Report is donating US$20 to the Koma Karanth Foundation for each entrant to encourage participation (with 91 entries that is a further US$1,820 to the Koma Karanth Foundation).
