SPAIN. Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (AENA) has awarded foreign exchange company Global Exchange the concession to operate six new bureaux de change at Terminal 4 of Madrid Barajas Airport.
From November, the Spanish-based firm will offer currency exchange and tax refund services at its six new offices, in addition to its existing six exchange bureaux at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 of the facility. Global Exchange also has operations at two other Spanish international airports: Alicante and Palma de Mallorca.
The company, which has invested €3 million in the six new offices, said the contract would allow Global Exchange to reach a wider customer base in the airport. “We foresee reaching 400,000 annual customers in this terminal, added to those three million that we serve already,” noted Global Exchange Group President and CEO Isidoro Alanis.
Madrid Barajas Airport is the fourth busiest airport in Europe by number of passengers, 25 million of which pass through Terminal 4 annually.
The Global Exchange Group currently operates in 12 countries worldwide, with 136 branches in 40 international airports.
