FRANCE. Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur will this month offer free and unlimited 100 meg broadband Wi-Fi to passengers, crew and staff at Nice and Cannes Mandelieu Airports.
From 13 March, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport will increase its Internet access speed sevenfold, via two operators, and almost double the number of terminals connected to Wi-Fi broadband.
The network optimisation will cover the entire facility, including runways, terminals and car parks. It will allow 5,000 people at Nice Airport airport alone to simultaneously connect to Wi-Fi that is fast, free and unlimited.
Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur Management Board President Dominique Thillaud commented: “Nice Côte d’Azur Airport once more offers new solutions that meet the needs of connected passengers, namely greater simplicity, speed and e-mobility services. In line with our policy to constantly improve customer service, the aim is to offer all types of passengers, crew and staff in commercial and business aviation the best possible service that meets their expectations.
“Most airport visitors now expect to stay connected through free and unlimited broadband. We strive to offer Wi-Fi Internet connection quality meeting the highest global standards by offering innovative Wi-Fi infrastructure.”
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport claims to have been in the vanguard of Wi-Fi provision, becoming the first French airport to implement a Wi-Fi Hotspot, in 2000. In 2008, it was again the first French airport to offer passengers a free and unlimited Wi-Fi connection.
As previously reported, Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur has embarked on an ambitious two-terminal overhaul of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport that will completely revamp its retail and F&B offer, in addition to doubling the waiting areas and lounges. The project is scheduled for completion by 2017.
