Singapore Airlines will be the first airline to launch an item from the new Piccolina travel collection |
GERMANY. German luxury brand Etienne Aigner has gained a listing onboard Qatar Airways from December with a men’s wallet.
Qatar Airways is the first airline in the Middle East to list the product. “We want to make an impact in the Middle East,” Etienne Aigner Inflight Sales & Travel Retail Amanda Garbarino told The Moodie Report in Cannes.
In related news, from March 2010, Singapore Airlines will be the first airline to launch a product from the new travel collection (also see below) – a Piccolina bag in an orchid colour.
Since targeting the inflight market two years ago, Aigner has more than a dozen airline listings.
In other news, Aigner unveiled its line of horseshoe-inspired bags specially designed for travellers at the TFWA World Exhibition in October.
This season’s Piccolina collection of classic bags for women feature elegant leather grips and practical zippers. Made from high-end nylon, the bags are designed to be light and robust.

Small, medium and large bags are available in black as well as an array of bright colours such as purple, orange, red and pink. A wide selection of purses, wallets and belts is also offered.
In addition to the Piccolina travel range, Aigner offers a duty free exclusive assortment of small leather accessories, such as wallets and business card holders, available in classic black and brown colours.
AUTUMN/WINTER LEATHER COLLECTION 09/10
Inspiration for the Autumn/Winter 09 leather collection returns to Aigner’s earliest origins. From the classic business bag and feminine city models to elegant evening bags, they all bear the horseshoe symbol, the Aigner trademark, which is said to bring good luck. Eye-catching details from the world of horses and riding run through the collection.
The emphasis is on material variety: alongside the popular calf leather, the models also feature soft buckskin, patent leather, plus Cavallino and embossed crocodile leather, as well as canvas, partly covered with PVC, Amaretta and satin.
Dominant colours apart from black are ebony, purple and mauve. An extra touch of glamour is provided by metallic-look leather qualities (e.g. python and deer) in bronze, silver and grey-gold.
Highlights include the New Etienne, the successor of the company’s Doctor’s Bag, in metallic python or Cavallino style. This season, paying tribute to the elegance of horses, bags feature lasered belt prints on Amaretta. Carré Classic is designed for businesswomen, featuring rectangular forms and an all-over belt design. Also new is the Blason, in patent leather, in black and mauve, decorated with a metallic coat of arms.

In the Monte Carlo line, the eye-catching features are the woven structure (also in grey-gold metallic), a soft suede leather marked with a horseshoe and an exclusive twist catch. Models from the Rider line are described as sporty, elegant bags inspired by stirrup straps.
The Damascus Bag is a high-fashion belt-bag with a lace leather look, which comes with various different inlays such as Icon Suede (elaborately embossed suede leather) or Cavallino. The exchangeable inlay is made from mink.
The Signature Bag, with its an italic Aigner script, is offered in canvas with Icon-Jacquard, all-over quilting with leather in mother-of-pearl finish, or exotic crocodile.
For men, key items include the new Doctor’s Bag in a lighter version, Cabas and business bags and also practical travel bags for short trips. Materials range from canvas and calf leather to embossed crocodile leather.
Belts feature the materials and colours of the bags. Here, too, the Aigner leitmotif is present: clasps with horses’ heads, horseshoes and Aigner Icons in all kinds of variations.
In addition to the bags, Aigner offers a range of accessories, such as shoes and purses.
