INTERNATIONAL. Air France-KLM Chairman and CEO Alexandre de Juniac is set to join the line-up of plenary speakers at the 30th TFWA World Exhibition and Conference this year in Cannes (26-31 October).
He will address the challenges facing the airline business amid fluctuating trading conditions as Air France-KLM looks to build on its position of leadership a decade on from the merger of the French and Dutch carriers.

TFWA Vice President Thom Rankin said: “Alexandre de Juniac leads the airline with the largest long-haul network out of Europe so he is well placed to provide fascinating insight into the way in which international civil aviation is developing around the world. We are delighted to be able once again to present a conference and workshop programme which will give delegates from every sector of our business informed commentary and stimulating debate.”
De Juniac joins 65th US Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell, USA (Ret.), Luxottica CEO Andrea Guerra and TFWA President Erik Juul-Mortensen as keynote speakers at Monday’s plenary conference.
The annual Market Watch Workshop (Tuesday 28 October 8am-9am in the Salon Croisette, Majestic Hotel) will focus for the first time on duty free and travel retail in Latin America – including infrastructure developments, market and product trends and changes to customer profiles.
Speakers will include ASUTIL President and regional retailer Neutral CEO Enrique Urioste, World Duty Free Group International Operations Director and ASUTIL board member Pedro Castro and m1nd-set Global Marketing Intelligence & Solutions Partner and Co-founder Peter Mohn – who will present key findings from research commissioned by TFWA into travellers in Latin America.
In other news, TFWA is collaborating with French manufacturers’ union Unifab to hold a working lunch on the threat posed by counterfeit goods (Tuesday 28 October, 12:30pm-2pm). The session, designed to encourage exchange and debate, will see a panel of experts present illustrative case studies on the growing threat that counterfeit goods pose to the duty free and travel retail industry. Speakers will be announced at a later date.
The Airline & Retailer Workshop: Inflight Focus (Wednesday 29 October, 8am-9am) will give delegates the opportunity to explore product trends, sales techniques and advances in technology within the inflight retail market.
The panel of speakers will include Cathay Pacific Inflight Sales and Service Development Manager Jasmine Li, Lojas Francas de Portugal/TAP Air Portugal Inflight Sales Director Ana Rita Aragão and Tourvest Inflight Retail Services Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Joe Harvey
