HONG KONG.The Board of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has today announced the appointment of Fred Lam Tin-Fuk as CEO for a term of three years, effective 1 October 2014. He will succeed Stanley Hui Hon-Chung.
Lam, currently Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will lead AA’s management team and will oversee the operations of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and its related infrastructure. He will also be responsible for maintaining the airport’s long-term competitiveness, sustainability and ensuring that HKIA complies with strict safety and security standards.
After Hui departs in mid-July and before Lam assumes the role, Executive Director Airport Operations CK Ng will step in as acting Chief Executive Officer.
AA Chairman Vincent Lo Hong-sui said: “As we are facing the imminent saturation of the two-runway system, and undertaking the critical tasks of planning and building the three-runway system and the North Commercial District, the AA needs to equip itself to tackle these challenges. This is an important moment in HKIA’s development, and Mr Lam is the right leader to champion our plans and initiatives that will keep the airport competitive well into the future.”
Lam added: “I am very excited to be joining the AA team at this critical point in HKIA’s development. I also look forward to working closely with Mr Ng and other AA colleagues to deliver the best service and facilities to the airport’s users. I am sure that together we will be able to sustain HKIA’s success story for many years to come.”
