UAE. Al Jalila Foundation has recognised Dubai Duty Free’s support of its mission to advance medical research in the UAE.
The non-profit organisation has added Dubai Duty Free Foundation’s name to its Bassmat (fingerprint in Arabic) Rashid Bin Saeed Campaign Donor Recognition Wall.
An engraving ceremony, held at Al Jalila Headquarters in Dubai Healthcare City, was attended by Al Jalila Foundation CEO Dr Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama and Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Colm McLoughlin, along with the other members of the Al Jalila Foundation and Dubai Duty Free executive management team.
“Today more than ever, we need to safeguard the health and safety of our people and continue to maintain the values of philanthropy” – Dubai Duty Free CEO & Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin
Since its inception in 2013, the non-profit Al Jalila Foundation – a member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives – has led opportunities to increase innovative and impactful medical research in the UAE. The foundation relies on the support of its partners and donations are invested in life-transforming healthcare programmes. Dedicated to the late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum – who was renowned for his humanitarian achievements – Bassmat Rashid Bin Saeed is a giving campaign that uses cutting-edge technology to recognise donors by engraving names on its Donor’s Recognition Wall. The wall features seven donation categories to include individuals, families, corporations and philanthropists. |
Commenting on the recognition, McLoughlin said: “We have been supporting Al Jalila Foundation since 2017 and we are honoured to support the organisation’s mission to advance medical research in the UAE.
“Today more than ever, we need to safeguard the health and safety of our people and continue to maintain the values of philanthropy.”
Dr Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama added: “As the UAE looks toward the next 50 years, we are inspired by the great strides we, as a nation, are taking in medical innovation and the advancement of science and research. We are extremely grateful for the donation from Dubai Duty Free who, like us, believe that investing in medical research is critical to the longevity and sustainability of future generations.”
The Dubai Duty Free Foundation was established in 2004 under the patronage of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority President and Dubai Duty Free Chairman H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, to organise its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and, most importantly, raise funds for worthy causes, specifically those aimed at benefiting children.
The foundation has supported 45 local and 56 overseas charities through donations exceeding US$24.5 million, with a total of 25 charities supported in 2019 alone.
