SPAIN. Aldeasa’s duty free contracts at 14 Spanish airports have been extended by one year, with the possibility they may be extended further, according to a report in yesterday’s El Pais newspaper.
Aldeasa’s contracts at 14 Spanish airports (not including Madrid, where the retailer has a contract to 2012) expired last year, but the company has continued to trade in the absence of a fresh tender being called.
The report quoted sources at airport authority AENA who said that Aldeasa’s contract would run for another year, and in some cases even longer, because of renovation work that is taking place at key airports.
