JORDAN. Airport International Group (AIG) has reported record-breaking first-half traffic at Amman Queen Alia International Airport in 2025, serving 4,406,690 passengers, up +6% year-on-year.

The airport group highlighted key milestones in operations, infrastructure development, sustainability, digital transformation and CSR initiatives at the airport.
The record passenger traffic was bolstered by the resumption of regional and European routes, coupled with strong travel demand during the peak periods of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
Flight movements during H1 reached 36,331, marking a +2.2% rise.
Despite strong overall performance, the airport saw a -16.6% year-on-year drop in June passenger numbers, impacted by regional tensions and related flight disruptions.
Airline activity at the airport rebounded strongly in the first half of the year, supported by the return of carriers such as flyadeal and Ajet, and the launch of new airlines and routes. Royal Jordanian further expanded its global footprint with new services to Damascus, Aleppo, Mumbai and Washington D.C.
Libyan Wings and SunExpress also reinstated their operations at the airport.
Key first-half highlights
Underscoring its focus on sustainability, the airport reached a key milestone in April with the launch of the Shams al Mattar Lil-Taqa Solar Farm, operated by Shams al Mattar lil-Taqa (Kawar Investment).
The 4.8MWac power plant delivers more than 10.5GWh of electricity annually, accounting for roughly 25% of AIG’s operational energy requirements.
The solar farm not only cuts operational costs but also eliminates nearly 12,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, underscoring the airport’s role as a solar energy leader in the MENA region.
The airport marked a key operational milestone in June with the trial roll-out of e-gates designed to streamline travel procedures for Jordanian citizens. A total of nine units were installed, five in Arrivals and four in Departures, helping ease passenger flow during peak periods.
Reinforcing its commitment to customer satisfaction, Queen Alia Airport once again earned the title of ‘Most Enjoyable Airport in the Middle East’ in the ACI World 2024 ASQ Survey.
The recognition came on the heels of the airport’s February renewal of Level 3 status under the ACI World Airport Customer Experience Accreditation, highlighting sustained efforts to improve the passenger journey.
To enhance its focus on commercial development, AIG has also signed a deal with Extime JCDecaux Airport to modernise the advertising experience at the airport, adding value to advertisers while elevating the passenger experience.
In line with its commitment to youth empowerment, the Airport International Group Foundation has reintroduced vocational training courses through its Hirfati training centre, recording a +20% increase in enrolments.
The programme supported 75 participants across six vocational courses. These include Fashion Design and Tailoring (12), Programming and Software Development (13), Health and Occupational Safety (13), Mobile Phone Maintenance (12), HVAC (13) and Warehouse Management (12).
Airport International Group CEO Nicolas Deviller said, “The first half of 2025 emphasises the enduring strength of QAIA as a vital national asset and a cornerstone of Jordan’s air transport sector.
“In the face of regional adversity, we remained focused on growing our traffic and delivering impactful projects, innovative enhancements and passenger-centric services that uphold the highest international standards and shape QAIA into a welcoming airport that feels like home.
“With the steadfast support of our employees, partners and stakeholders, we are confident that the foundations laid during this period will drive success throughout the remainder of the year and beyond.” ✈
