Amritsar Airport invites bids for duty free concession

INDIA. Airports Authority of India has launched a tender for duty free space covering 238sq m at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar. The contract will run for seven years. Flemingo is the incumbent retailer.

Available under the concession are 138sq m of international arrivals space (ground floor), 47sq m in the ground floor departures area and 53sq m in the first-floor departures area.

AAI stated that the qualifying bidder should have a minimum turnover of Rs. 9,49,70,633 Rupees (US$1,155,220) during any one of the last seven financial years. The figure equates to 12 months of minimum monthly guarantee for the contract. No previous experience in managing duty free stores is required, AAI stipulated.

AAI has proposed a minimum rent per international passenger (departing and arriving) of Rs. 105.57 (US$1.29) and a Minimum Monthly Guarantee (MMG) of Rs. 78,78,600.13 (US$96,268.33), whichever is higher.

A pre-bid meeting with potential bidders takes place today with online submission of bids due by 10 May. On 11 May, technical bids will be opened, and the financial bids will be opened on 25 May.

During its latest financial year (which runs to 31 March), the airport served 675,782 international passengers (figures to February). FY2019/20 saw the highest number of international passengers in one year, at 819,243.
