Amsterdam Airport Schiphol passenger traffic climbs +8% in 2024

NETHERLANDS. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol served 66.8 million travellers in 2024, a rise of +8% year-on-year. The top five destination markets by passenger volume were the UK, Spain, Italy, the USA and Türkiye.

Schiphol served 301 destinations in the year, 124 of them intercontinental. According to the ACI Airport Industry Connectivity Report 2024, Schiphol was the second-best-connected airport in Europe and number five globally.

Schiphol remains among the best-connected airports in Europe; the diverse network and broad audience represents a big opportunity as the Schiphol Group-Lagardère Travel Retail JV prepares to assume management of all core category duty free from 1 May

Schiphol was also the airport with the most direct European destinations. Some 45.3 million travellers flew to or arrived from an airport in Europe, 21.5 million to or from a long-haul location.

As reported, Schiphol Group recently named Lagardère Travel Retail as its partner to manage all core category duty-free retail spaces at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, following a competitive tender.

The contract from 1 May 2025 covers more than 20 stores and combines perfumes & cosmetics and sunglasses spaces with those dedicated to liquor, tobacco & confectionery.
