The Brazil tobacco in the Discovery range is said to be mild and fruity

Davidoff is launching its new Discovery range of pipes and tobaccos in global travel retail from next month.

The tobaccos are from Brazil, Argentina and Malawi and are presented in “modern and elegant” pouches.

The range is inspired by Zino Davidoff’s “pioneering spirit and his passion for making new discoveries”, and is aimed at modern pipe aficionados.

For the Davidoff Discovery pipes, the company has used briar wood from Calabria – the burlwood of the white heath tree – which is typically found around the Mediterranean Sea. With age, the briar root becomes tight and dense enough to resist both the heat of lighted tobacco and the juices produced during the smoke, Davidoff said.

The briar is dried for 10 years and the pipes are made in Germany. They feature a black matte design with a ring crafted in maple and tinted in yellow, orange and red, matching the pipe tobacco’s iconography.

Yellow Brazil is said to be mild and fruity. The blend consists of double-fermented black Cavendish in combination with Brazil ripe and matured flue-cured Virginia tobaccos in different cuts.

The medium-strength Orange Argentina features a blend created from double-fermented black Cavendish and Argentina ripe flue-cured Virginia tobaccos with a honey flavour.

Red Malawi mixes Malawi mature Burley and Malawi ripe flue-cured Virginia blended with Danish dark Cavendish. The strong tobacco features sun-cured Mexican vanilla to create a sweet taste.
