“An all-in-one shopping paradise” – Exclusive film coverage of GDF Plaza Phase II in Hainan

CHINA. We proudly bring you exclusive video coverage from the opening of Haikou Global Premium Duty Free (GDF) Plaza’s Phase II on Monday, in association with The Moodie Davitt Report’s strategic local partner Hainan Hinews Media Co.

As reported, GDF Plaza (owned by Hainan Development Holdings) opened the first 20,000sq m of the 30,000sq m Phase II, introducing a wide array of cosmetics, perfumes, bags, shoes, watches, liquor, glasses, and jewellery.

In this film coverage shot on opening day, Lu Tianqin, Chief TV Host of Hinews.cn Media and Head of the Duty Free Channel on the hugely popular New Hainan app, interviews Lim Guek Boon (Casey Lim), Vice President of Global Consumer Boutique (Hainan) Trading Co Ltd. She also speaks to consumers about their reaction to the offer as part of her renowned ‘Weekly Store Visit’ programme.

Tianqin highlights the Gucci Beauty area; singles out the Maison Margiela scents; tries on some high-end Stuart Weitzman shoes (“These shoes are a favourite among powerful women from all countries”); and is wowed by the “super fashionable” See By Chloé boutique.

On a tour of the store, Casey Lim shows Tianqin the wine-tasting area, an extensive perfumes zone, Hainan’s largest Apple store and a vibrant sunglasses offer.

“A place like this will provide a great place for Chinese people to go shopping for the things they want in a nice environment while getting excellent service,” says Lim. “A good variety of fine products provides people with an all in one shopping paradise. The duty free shop here at Mova Mall is our contribution to the Hainan Free Trade Port.”

Brand bonanza: Hainan shoppers applaud GDF Plaza Phase II

Global premium and luxury brands such as La Prairie, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, La Mer, M.A.C, SK-II, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, Pandora, APM Monaco, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery and Luk Fook Jewellery are all present in Phase II.

In addition, high-end brands Stuart Weitzman and Maison Margiela make their respective debuts in the Haikou duty free market. In another highlight, See By Chloé has entered the Hainan duty free channel for the first time.

Apple’s largest authorised duty free store in Haikou has been built on the second floor of the Aquarius building, creating a spacious and bright space to display the consumer technology house’s various products.
