“An immersive journey” – Bulgari extends travel retail network with Frankfurt Airport boutique opening

GERMANY. Roman luxury house Bulgari has unveiled an elegant 100sq m store at Frankfurt Airport. The stylish boutique is a collaboration with Frankfurt Airport Retail, the JV between airport operator Fraport and Gebr. Heinemann.

The store offers a curated collection of high-end jewellery, including the Serpenti and B.Zero1 collections, plus luxury handbags and timepieces from the brand.

Bulgari said the store is designed with a nod to ancient Roman classicism and its open shop front is framed with an antique marble. The central feature of the store is a circular browsing counter, which has a travertine top sculptured in Italy.

The store design also features artisan encaustic work, an ancient painting method in which wax and pigment are fused onto a surface with heat. Soft furnishings and rich silks have also been added to give a feeling of warmth.

To uplift the space, Bulgari has used touches of saffron colour which it said “bring the magic of the light of Rome, reminiscent of the moments just before the sunset when the sky is ablaze in shades of golden apricot”.

The boutique also features two decorative mesh panels with a geometric pattern inspired by the Roman pantheon combining squares and circles with the Bulgari eight-point star. The same star is embedded in the marble floor of the entrance zone.

Bulgari Director Travel Retail Europe Gabriele Arlotta said: “Today, we are proud to bring the magic of the light of Rome to offer an immersive journey in the unique world of Bulgari to our travellers in one of the major European airports.”

Gebr. Heinemann Director Purchasing FAWJ Jan Richter commented: “The aesthetics and product offerings of the boutique combine to form a remarkable allure for global travellers. We are thrilled to sustain the prosperous strategic alliance between Bulgari, Fraport and Gebr. Heinemann, expressing gratitude to all contributors for their outstanding and reliable collaboration.”

Prominent in the store is an artwork by legendary pop artist Andy Warhol, named The Venus. Bulgari noted he once famously said: “For me calling at Bulgari shop is like visiting the best exhibition of contemporary art.”

Frankfurt Airport Retail Managing Directors Richard Hoyer and Georg Fuhrmann gave this statement: “In collaboration with Bulgari and Gebr. Heinemann, we’ve crafted an exceptional brand and shopping experience of elevated standards. The newly unveiled boutique stands as a compelling illustration of the impactful innovations this partnership fosters.” ✈
