CANADA. Andrew Peller Limited has opened a new boutique at Toronto Pearson International Airport featuring its award-winning portfolio of Canadian wines.

Opened on 1 February at Terminal 1, the new space offers a large selection from Canadian wineries such as Peller Estates, Trius Winery at Hillebrand, Thirty Bench Wine Makers and Wayne Gretzky Estates.

“Greeting over 23 million international passengers each year, Toronto Pearson International Airport is the ideal space to showcase the very best from our vineyards,” the company stated.

Knowledgeable staff is on hand to assist customers with picking a wine from the showcase of Canadian Icewine and rare and limited bottles, including the new Brix 50 from Peller Estates.

As previously reported, Peller Estates Brix 50 is a limited-edition icewine launched earlier this year in partnership with The Nuance Group at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Only 1,528 bottles have been produced, each hand numbered and available at Nuance’s stores for C$450 per 375ml bottle.

The launch was a significant one for Peller Estates, which was named “˜Canadian Winery of the Year’ at the 2014 WineAlign National Wine Awards held in Penticton, BC last June. The 14th edition of the national competition saw 1,335 wines from 189 wineries across Canada being reviewed by an expert panel of wine writers, wine critics, retail buyers, Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wines.

Peller Estates achieved medals for 13 wines, including top rankings for the following: Andrew Peller Signature Series Sauvignon Blanc 2012 (Platinum), Private Reserve Gamay Noir Carlton Vineyard 2012 (Gold), Private Reserve Rosé 2013 (Gold), Andrew Peller Signature Series Merlot 2011 (Gold) and Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 (Gold).
