TURKEY/INTERNATIONAL. The Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference and Awards, due to take place on 23-24 June in Istanbul, will move to the new dates of 2-3 September in the same city.
The date change is due to the disruption caused across the industry by the COVID-19 outbreak, its impact on business, and restrictions on travel and other cost-cutting measures forced on many companies in the sector.
The event, which gathers together decision makers from across the global food & beverage business, is organised by The Moodie Davitt Report. This year’s co-hosts are Istanbul Airport operator IGA and its lead F&B partner, Tum & Ictur.
The decision to postpone FAB 2020 was agreed and confirmed by all parties. Details of the hotel venue and agenda and speaker line-up will appear soon.
In related news, the deadline for entries for the annual FAB Awards moves to 5 June, after which judging from our independent panel will take place.
The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman and FAB creator Martin Moodie said: “Given the great disruption and uncertainty that the COVID-19 outbreak is bringing to our industry, we feel we simply have to be proactive and defer this key event to a later date. The airport F&B sector, in common with all sector stakeholders, has been severely disrupted by the ongoing health crisis and the delay will hopefully allow for a successful event in a much-improved business climate. Our priority must be the welfare, personally and business-wise of all attendees. We thank our hosts and sponsors for their understanding and support through this difficult period.”
FAB 2020 will begin with a half-day session and the Opening Cocktail on 2 September. Day two will feature a full-day conference, culminating with a celebration of excellence in airport dining at the FAB Awards Gala dinner.
