DENMARK. Danish confectionery company Anthon Berg is launching dark chocolates with liquid coffee centres to travel retail from next year.
Modelled after the popular liqueur-filled dark chocolates which are packaged as liqueur bottles, the new coffee version will be presented in the shape of latte glasses.
International Trade Marketing Manager Irina Sandberg told The Moodie Report: “We were thinking of tapping into the trend of increasing numbers of coffee chains around the world.”
The chocolates will be available in cappuccino, toffee macchiato, espresso, Irish cream coffee and vanilla frappe flavours. A pack will retail at about €9.
Meanwhile the liqueur version will be repackaged, and three new flavours – Galliano, Malibu and Rémy Martin – will be added.
In addition to the creamy caramel and creamy mint lines of dark chocolates, the company is to introduce a creamy raspberry version. The more feminine design is designed to attract women.
Children are not left out, as the company will introduce a Pingo Man product of both toy and candy, for boys. Sandberg said that the same toy for girls met with great success last year, and the company now wants to extend the line to boys as well.
Parents can also buy a ‘seat organiser pack’ for their children. The pack, which can be hung on the back of a vehicle’s front seats, contains toys and sweets.
Pingo products will retail from €10.
