SPAIN. Travel restaurateur Areas has completed what it describes as a “gastronomic transformation” at Menorca Airport on the Balearic Islands, with the opening of four new food & beverage venues.
The spaces, which cover 1,600sq m, combine popular international brands with well-known Spanish chains. They will represent half of the F&B offering at the airport under an eight-year contract.

The new venues are Paul, the French coffee shop brand which operates in 54 countries; Burger King, the hamburger chain with over 18,800 restaurants; Taberna del Volapié, the traditional Andalusian tavern brand specialising in popular dishes and wines from the south of Spain; and Viandas de Salamanca, the premium Spanish ham and cold meat cuts specialist.
Areas Iberia Chief Airports Officer Luis Castilla said: “This airport completes our presence in the Balearic Islands, where we already manage 33 outlets. These openings are a major step in our commitment to offer the best culinary options to satisfy all our customers.

“Airports must be a reflection of the best of local gastronomy and showcase Menorca’s culinary capacity to all travellers.”
The new openings see Areas cement its position as the leading airport hospitality operator on the Balearic Islands. The company operates 23 stores in Palma de Mallorca, six in Ibiza, plus the four new ones at Menorca Airport.
