SPAIN. Global travel restaurateur Areas has unveiled a 422sq m StrEAT food court at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport Terminal 2.
The concept brings together four venues, each with a different theme, inspired by the airport street food trend, Areas noted.
This is the fourth Areas StrEAT airport food court to open, with the others in Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca airports in Spain, and Newark Liberty International in the USA.
The latest space, which features a terrace area, offers culinary options from four brands: Tacos Don Manolito, Udon Asian Food, VyTA and Rossopomodoro.
Offering ‘real pizza and Neapolitan cuisine’, Rossopomodoro serves pizzas crafted with traditional recipes from Naples such as the Capricciosa, Diavoletta and Margherita, among many others.
Udon serves healthy, balanced Asian cuisine. It offers a variety of signature dishes such as Yakisoba and Yakiudon in different versions, Japanese tapas and small plates, and miso soup.
Tacos Don Manolito offers authentic Mexican cuisine including a choice of tacos such as the Campechano, Costeño and Arrachera.
Described by Areas as a “trendy coffee house”, VyTA offers a variety of coffee-based creations and gourmet pastries.
Areas said the StrEAT food court area will feature live cooking demonstrations to “showcase a diverse, authentic culinary offering”.
Areas Iberia Marketing & Business Development Director Mireya Muñoz told The Moodie Davitt Report: “StrEAT gives travellers the freedom to choose from well-known national and international brands, allowing them to enjoy a wide variety of dishes made with top-quality ingredients.
“The format blends the vibrant culture of street food with innovative design concepts, creating a dynamic and welcoming space for travellers to begin their journey before take-off.”
The Areas StrEAT concept has received several notable recognitions, including winning Airport Restaurant Design of the Year (Europe category) at the 2024 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Awards.
