SPAIN. Food & beverage concessionaire Areas has unveiled its fresh culinary offering at Palma de Mallorca Airport, with six establishments opened after an investment of €1.45 million.
The outlets cover more than 1,000sq m and are forecast to generate turnover of €39 million over the three years of the concession.
Palma de Mallorca Airport’s third Burger King – the largest, with a capacity of over 500 people – opened this month. It is the first one opened by Areas in an airport and is located in a large food and beverage area that also includes an Espression by Lavazza coffee shop and Warsteiner, a high-end German beer bar which has recently become established on the island.

In other news, Areas has opened its own new brand, Deli&Cia, at the airport, with two outlets offering a range of high quality food, to eat in and take away. The concept is an English-style “˜grab & go’, offering salads, sandwiches, paninis, piadinas and hot prepared meals.
The Cervecería San Miguel bar, a leading meeting place, and the Sont Sant Joan coffee shop, which offers many Majorcan products, are also operational. In April, Areas reopened The Market store with its new brand image in the arrivals area of the airport.

The new Sibarium, which has changed location and image, offers visitors the best of Menorcan gastronomy, while News&Books carries a selection of magazines, books and newspapers.
