US. Airport food & beverage concessionaire Areas has opened a new Italian bistro, Piattino, in Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Developed in partnership with the New Jersey-based Villa Restaurant Group, Piattino features a menu of Italian classics and has an imported Italian oven designed to make stone-fired artisan pizzas.

Its specials include Herbed Milk Ricotta and Braised Veal Gorgonzola Risotto.
The 2,300sq ft bistro also offers a “decadent” dessert menu, coffee and a range of wines, beers and cocktails.
It is the third Piattino location, and the 13th restaurant for Villa Restaurant Group’s 40North business, which owns brands including Office Tavern Grill, Town Bar + Kitchen, and Black Horse Tavern & Pub.

Piattino is one of eight restaurant concepts under Areas’ wing at Newark Liberty International, including Panda Express which will open in August.
Villa Restaurant Group Executive Vice President of Development Adam Torine said: “Being a local, New Jersey-based restaurant organisation, we are very excited to team up with Areas and bring one of our iconic 40North brands to Newark Liberty Airport.’’
Areas US CEO Sergio Rodriguez boldly claimed that Piattino “is all about the best Italian fare in the western hemisphere”.
Areas now has more than 2,000 restaurants and points of sale in 14 countries in Europe and the US, as well as Mexico and Chile.
