BAA to feature Huxleys Bar & Kitchen, a British restaurant concept, at Heathrow T5 – 10/08/07

UK. BAA has announced the launch of a new British dining concept, designed specifically for Heathrow Terminal Five. Huxleys Bar & Kitchen will offer what is described as an innovative British menu, said the concept’s retailer Tragus Group.

Huxleys Bar and Kitchen concept aims to take traditional British food back to its roots, offering good quality food with a high standard of basic ingredients and great flavours, it said.

The British menu will source local produce where possible and will offer a broad range – from kedgeree and kiln-smoked Scottish salmon to steak and kidney pudding, ploughman’s lunch, classic sandwiches and grilled steaks. It will also offer British puddings such as syrup sponge and spotted dick, and a ‘Great British’ breakfast and afternoon tea.

A contemporary styled bar positioned at the front of the restaurant will offer a full range of wines from across the world in addition to a classic selection of beers, ales and spirits, specifically chosen to complement the British dishes.

Tragus CEO Graham Turner explained: “Huxleys Bar & Kitchen is an exciting new British concept designed to appeal to all Anglophiles in an international environment. It will allow customers to try a wide range of British favourites, from the traditional Great British breakfast to syrup sponge pudding. We are delighted to be able to showcase our new brand at this prestigious development.”

Tragus has a track record with BAA, having operated Café Rouge at Heathrow T1 since 2003.

BAA Head of Category for Food and Beverage Catherine Peachey added: “We are pleased to announce that Huxleys has chosen to launch their new British dining concept at Heathrow’s new T5. Huxleys Bar and Kitchen will be adding to the vast array of exciting restaurants offering innovative food concepts to passengers travelling through the terminal next year.”

Huxleys is also set to become a high street brand after the opening of T5, said Tragus.
