BAHRAIN. Bahrain Duty Free has commenced its third annual Race 2 Win promotion at Bahrain International Airport.

The acclaimed promotion has won the annual Frontier Award for best marketing campaign by a retailer for the past two years (Bahrain Duty Free was also named Airport Retailer of the Year in 2005). This year’s campaign runs from 6 January to 31 March, coinciding with the build-up to the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix weekend on 10-12 March.

This year’s promotion has a new twist, as shoppers will have the opportunity to win a million Gulf Air frequent flyer miles. The miles may be redeemed on any of the carrier’s 39 destinations.

The Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix is the first event on the FIA racing calendar this year. As a result interest is expected to be high, with more passengers projected than ever before.

Gulf Air Holidays is providing special packages for the Grand Prix (see www.gulfairco.com).

Bahrain International Circuit – the home of motorsport in the Kingdom – has this year made a number of paddock tickets available at the event as second prize.

“These exclusive tickets give premium comfort for the winners to relax and enjoy the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand prix for the entire race programme,” said Bahrain Duty Free.

Sponsors include Philip Morris international, which will have a grand prix car on display at Bahrain International Airport during the event.

BAR Honda sponsor British American Tobacco will also exhibit one of its unique stainless steel F1 cars at the airport. It will offer a range of gift with product promotions.

Hugo Boss is once again a sponsor of the McClaren team. The fashion house is promising a “˜virtual driving experience’ in-store along with gifts with purchase.

Luxury watch company Omega is also entering into the spirit of the event with a range of watches at attractive prices. Shoppers will have the chance to win Omega watches in the weekly Race 2 Win draws, which commenced on 16 January.

Nestlé, a traditional supporter of the event, is once again entering the fray. Its efforts are focused on building the average spend on Kit Kat, featuring a range of GWPs, including MP3 players.
