Bally appoints new creative chief – 01/03/07

SWITZERLAND. Swiss luxury goods house Bally has named Brian Atwood is its new Creative Director, heading up all aspects of design.

Brian Atwood is one of the most influential shoe designers in the fashion business, said the company. “His expertise and talent are perfectly matched to Bally’s unique luxury products, representing style, craftsmanship, and high quality.”

Bally CEO Marco Franchini commented: “Until today we have wanted the brand to speak for itself, while we worked on strengthening the business network. This is the perfect time to empower a creative director to guide Bally into the spotlight it deserves, I believe that the elegance and style of Brian’s work is a prefect match for Bally.”

An ex-model, Atwood was hired by Gianni Versace in 1996 to work on the Versus line, quickly moving on to become the Chief Designer for women’s accessories.

In 2001 Brian began his own line of women’s shoes, which has earned him critical acclaim. In 2003 his design talent was recognized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America who awarded him with the Swarovski – Perry Ellis award for accessory design.

“I have always admired Bally,” said Atwood. “I am so excited to be part of a company that is one of the strongest brands with an amazing heritage that totally compliments my own work philosophy.”
