French winemaker Barton & Guestier (B&G) has achieved the Engagé RSE – Exemplary Level label by AFNOR Certification, recognising its commitment to social responsibility across both its Wine House and its Château Magnol estate.
The recognition coincides with B&G’s 300th anniversary celebrations this June, with The Moodie Davitt Report set to attend the milestone event in Bordeaux next week (19 June).
The prestigious award highlights a voluntary initiative embedded in the winemaker’s corporate mission, “To offer the very best of French wines to consumers around the world.”
Barton & Guestier Commercial Director Philippe Marion said, “Achieving the Exemplary Level, the highest distinction awarded to date, is a testament to our unwavering dedication to continuous improvement, fully embracing our economic, environmental and social responsibilities.”
This commitment is demonstrated through the company’s proactive approach to anticipating regulatory and societal expectations, aimed at meeting growing client demand for sustainable development.

It also reflects a decisive reduction of B&G’s environmental impact through optimised viticultural practices, eco-design integration, waste valorisation and the mindful use of natural resources (such as water and silica).
The company’s HR policy also plays a central role – grounded in workplace well-being, safety, internal promotion, equal opportunity, social dialogue, continuous training and the enhancement of the attractiveness of their profession.
The award adds to B&G’s growing list of CSR achievements, including the EcoVadis Silver Medal earned last December.
Marion said, “We firmly believe that a sustainable future can only be built together, over time — with dynamism, transparency, and sincerity. With both pride and humility, we are committed to continuing this journey, in service of our partners, our teams, our terroirs, and our clients across the globe.” ✈
