Beirut Duty Free unveils standalone counter for number one makeup brand MAC

LEBANON. Beirut Duty Free has opened its first standalone counter for MAC Cosmetics, following a strong performance for the US beauty brand in its store at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The 30sq m space, which began trading on 22 April, is located in the main hallway of the departures terminal.

Power brand: Beirut Duty Free said that its collaboration with MAC and The Estée Lauder Companies will enhance the visibility of the brand and the duty free shop.

Beirut Duty Free General Manager Adrian Bradshaw said: “We began working with MAC in April 2015 and it has been going from strength to strength. Although the initial location for the brand wasn’t as prime as we would have liked, we decided that this time we would really make a bold statement, and where better than the main walkway of the terminal?”

He added: “MAC has a great reputation with our customers. The brand awareness is high in the country and region, which has led to MAC being our number one makeup brand.”

Bradshaw said that the retailer’s strong collaboration with MAC and The Estée Lauder Companies would bring enhanced visibility to the brand and to the duty free shop as a whole, and further enhance the shopping experience at Beirut Duty Free.

Over the past 12 months, Beirut Duty Free has expanded the space for perfumes & cosmetics by 45sq m, or 10% of the overall store total.

The additional space has enabled it to list makeup brands such as Benefit and Pinky Goat, with others to follow including Rituals, Jo Malone London and NARS. The company is also renovating most spaces for existing beauty brands in the coming months.
