Benny Klepach: Has led DFASS’s rise over the past 25 years |
INTERNATIONAL. Duty Free Air & Ship Supply (DFASS) Founder & President Benny Klepach has been named The Moodie Personality of the Month for March, in association with The Dalmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky. DFASS celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2012, and since its beginnings has become the world’s biggest inflight concessionaire.
The Moodie Report Personality of the Month is a regular online feature, supported by leading Highland malt The Dalmore. It aims to recognise those individuals who by their deeds, attitudes and behaviour advance the industry’s cause.
DFASS has struck a number of vital recent deals on the retail and distribution fronts. Last month it announced that its Singapore arm (led by DFASS Asia and Middle East President John Garner) had secured the exclusive inflight retail sales, marketing and distribution rights for Asia and Australasia for all P&G Prestige fine fragrance brands. The agreement was a major coup for the company, which will take over handling a cluster of powerful brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Hugo Boss and Lacoste.
Only weeks earlier the company was appointed by Scoot, the new Singapore-based carrier, to operate its inflight duty free business. This means it will now serve the inflight business onboard all five Singapore-based carriers.
Klepach has overseen the rise of DFASS over the past 25 years, not only as an inflight retail concessionaire but as an airport retailer too. In January its partnership with The Nuance Group was confirmed as the duty free concessionaire at Orlando International.
Benny Klepach has also been highly active in the area of corporate social responsibility. He has funded two school buses to be used by pupils attending the Lycée (school) Jean-Baptiste Point du Sable in Saint Marc, Haiti. The school was built and is being run through funding from the travel retail industry. See www.HandinHandforHaiti.com for more.
