Biotherm’s nocturnal addition to Aquasource |
Biotherm has extended its key Aquasource hydrating franchise with a new product, Aquasource Nuit High Density Hydrating Jelly. It will be launched in European travel retail in February, before rolling out to Asia and the Americas in April.
As its name suggests, Aquasource Nuit is designed for use at night, when skin can lose up to four times as much water as during the day, according to the brand. The product helps skin to maintain its natural water reserves by harnessing the properties of P. Antarctica – a micro-organism capable of retaining its water reserves in temperatures as low as -90°C – by producing a glycoprotein that forms a cryoprotective envelope around it.
Biothem’s P. Antarctica Extract is said to boost the production of new keratinocytes, the most prevalent epidermal cells. New, young skin cells are better able to retain moisture, as their membranes are more efficient are locking water in, thereby preventing dehydration.
Biotherm maintains that P. Antarctica Extract increases the production of keratinocytes by up to 25% after just 48 hours, greatly boosting the skin’s overall capacity to hold water.
Other key moisturising ingredients include Mannose, and Biotherm’s signature Pure Thermal Plankton Cellular Water.
Aquasource Nuit is available as a 50ml lightweight gel-balm composition, very different from the heavy, rich formulas often associated with classic night creams. It is delicately scented and suitable for all skin types.
