Boggi Milano focuses on patterns, prints and luxury fabrics for FW2014

Italian menswear retailer Boggi Milano has launched its Fall Winter 2014-15 Collection, built around four main themes: Printed Season, New Comfort, Exclusive Yarn and Black Watch.

The colour palette for the season fades from the classic Boggi blue to brown and grey shades with brighter shades of colour on the patterned garments.

There is a wide selection of outwear pieces such as the practical reversible and warm quilted jackets. A “˜must have’ item for the cold and exclusive to travel retail is the Urban Motor Jacket (€350), a waterproof caban coat with details such as the windproof belt, wrists, reflective strips that disappear, and a detachable body warmer waistcoat. Another seasonal highlight is the Cloud Jacket (€450), a pullover jacket that is easy to pack and ideal for travelling.

The range of accessories – ties, handkerchiefs and scarves – have been designed to reflect the renewed and fresh image of the brand, according to Boggi.

Printed Season

The 2014-15 winter season 2014-15 is strongly characterised by the return of mismatched garments, opening the wardrobe to patterned jackets and blazers in soft light colours.

Glen plaid (also known as the Prince of Wales check), over checks and Vichy patterns replace plain colour coats typical of past seasons, while shirts – in both classic and sporty versions – show micro weaves and three-dimensional print effects.

Highlights include the printed shirts with paisley motifs, micro floral and polka dot which give a less formal but sophisticated look, the brand said.

New Comfort

This season also introduces pieces with a new fit that is said to be more comfortable and closer to tailoring. These include a range of blazers with shirt-effect rounded shoulders as well as the Fit Drop 8, a more fitted suit model with contoured waist and slimmer revers.

The fitted cut of the trousers and turtlenecks offer a contemporary “˜new comfort’ style that is less formal but elegant enough to replace the shirt and tie.

Exclusive Yarn

The new collection also presents 130’s wool yarn suits and jackets in a mixture of wool and cashmere, with patterns and colours specially created for the brand. These exclusive fabrics are combined with more technical materials to deliver a wide and high-quality selection, Boggi noted, such as the mixing of noble fibers such as cashmere and silk with wool.

One of the common thread that runs through the entire collection is Alcantara, a detail that is said to give added value to shirts and sweaters. Knits, apart from consolidated classic yarns, offer a variety of luxury mixes such as alpaca, angora and cashmere.

Other highlights include double knits that are lined with different fabrics such as jersey and nylon, as well as the versatile full-zip padded with quilted nylon – halfway between a sweater and a jacket.

Black Watch

The sports line BM39 sees the return of the British style with the black watch: a check pattern characterised by navy and dark green shades.

The range includes the shirt and pants embellished with details in dark shades, while quilted jackets combine nylon with black watch flannel, creating an interesting patchwork, according to Boggi.

Continuous expansion in overseas markets

International expansion remains one of Boggi Milano’s top priorities, particularly in Northern Europe and Asia. Recent openings in 2014 include Nuremberg (Bavaria), Seoul (South Korea), Belgium, and Amman (Jordan), with Almaty (Kazakhstan), Brussels, Dubai, Tehran (Iran) and Singapore to follow.

A flagship store will open in Seoul at the end of August, located at Cheongdam-Dong in the upscale Gangnam district. January 2015 will see an opening in Frankfurt Airport.
