USA. Duty Free City has hosted a Grand Opening at its 14,000sq ft border store in San Ysidro. The event, including in-store promotions and activities, highlighted the opening of the retailer’s debut location earlier this year.
Among the celebrations were activities for families during the day – including face-painting and arts & crafts – and an evening event catering to customers as well as fashion and beauty industry guests.
During the ribbon cutting, Duty Free City CEO Philippe Dray was presented with a certificate of membership by the San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce.

Dray said that he was looking forward to having a positive impact on “the future of luxury retail along the US-Mexico border and enabling travellers and members of local communities to have an exceptional shopping experience”.
As reported, Duty Free City opened the store in July. The company has plans for over 25 locations on the Mexico and Canada borders, selecting key cities with high income cross border traffic and key demographic population pockets with high disposable income.
