USA. Boston Logan International Airport has welcomed the opening of new duty free, speciality retail and food & beverage offers as part of an upgrade of international Terminal E, with further openings at Terminal C.
The commercial programme is led by MarketPlace Logan, an affiliate of Boston-based New England Development. Partners include Dufry (soon to be Avolta), SSP America and WHSmith.

“As travellers’ needs continue to evolve, we are excited to bring even more iconic and local favourites, as well as innovative options to make the overall travel experience more efficient and enjoyable, which is something that we strive for here at Boston Logan,” said MarketPlace Development President Michael DiCosola.
“These new arrivals will not only elevate the experience but will make a positive impression for those who make Boston Logan their first stop when visiting our city.”

In Terminal E, Dufry has opened an 11,000sq ft walk-through concept and mixed-use space, made to feel like a destination in itself, featuring four shopping zones inspired by two of Boston’s best-known neighborhoods, Back Bay and Jamaica Plain. The retailer’s portfolio also includes The Connoisseur Collection, the first of its kind at a US airport.
This is an intimate drinking lounge and shop with a tasting bar and discovery table, inspired by Boston’s Rowes Wharf trading port. The terminal’s striking ‘Boston red’ roof has also quickly become a symbol for the city, noted partners.
SSP America, a division of SSP Group, has opened three restaurants in Terminal E that reflect the local culinary landscape.

These include Boston Harbor Distillery, founded by Rhonda Kallman, a craft beverage industry thought leader and a pioneering woman in the beer industry.
After a decades-long career at the forefront of the craft beer movement, she founded Boston Harbor Distillery to produce whiskey. The distillery is located on Boston’s southernmost waterfront in the historic Port/Norfolk Neponset section of Dorchester.
SSP America’s Boston Airport restaurant serves pub classics throughout the day along with an extensive cocktail menu featuring the brand’s highly regarded spirits such as a Putnam Barrel Aged Old Fashioned, Boston Blaze Bloody Mary made with Demon Seed Whiskey and all-natural Maple Cream Espresso Martini.
Rhonda Kallman commented: “Boston Harbor Distillery is proud to have been selected by SSP America to be the featured concept representing a taste of Boston inside Logan Airport’s newly expanded international Terminal E. This world-class concept showcases our small batch, hand crafted whiskey and inventive spirits to be enjoyed when a passenger’s travels take them through Logan. Come raise a glass with us. Cheers.”

Sal’s Pizza is among the most renowned pizza names in New England. The brand is the brainchild of Sal Lupoli who is an East Boston native who opened his first shop in the 1990s with the support of his family. Today, more than 120 locations sell his pies. The airport menu includes the brand’s speciality pies as well as sandwiches, salads and breakfast strombolis.
Sal Lupoli remarked: “We are thrilled to partner with SSP to bring Sal’s Pizza to the newly expanded Terminal E. We take great pride in being Boston’s hometown pizza, made with only the freshest ingredients, and we look forward to offering the Sal’s experience to travellers.”

Wahlburgers’ quick serve concept in Terminal E – the second outlet for the brand at the airport – features handcrafted premium burgers, sandwiches, salads and sides. The brand’s signature burgers include the Our Burger topped with Chef Paul Wahlburg’s signature Wahl Sauce, sandwiches and salads including Jenn’s Chicken Salad.
“We’ve worked with SSP for a number of years and have had great success with our restaurant in Terminal C at Logan. We’re excited to expand our footprint with the opening of Terminal E and look forward to greeting even more travellers with the Boston experience at Wahlburgers,” said Chef Paul Wahlburg.
Also in Terminal E, InMotion opens a second iStore boutique carrying technology products and mobile solutions.
In Terminal C, travellers can experience fresh and healthy Japanese cuisine with Gachi Sushi and Noodles. There are also grab & go options with pre-packaged sushi rolls and appetisers to accommodate quick service.
“We work to constantly improve and enhance the passenger experience, and we are excited to offer passengers some new options through these well-known and local favourites,” said Massport Aviation Director Ed Freni. “Every day, we welcome thousands of visitors to New England to enjoy everything the region has to offer. Concessions play an important role in a passenger’s journey.”
