Italian winery and distillery Bottega will reveal two offerings, Lemon Spritz and Green Gin The Wild Bottega, at the upcoming Tax Free World Association (TFWA) World Exhibition in Cannes (A11 Blue Village).
Lemon Spritz, available in a 20cl bottle and 25cl can, is a ready-to-drink cocktail with low alcohol content that features a lemon infusion instead of Limoncino (Bottega’s lemon liqueur).
It is a fresh take on the traditional Italian Spritz, the history of which goes back to the Habsburg domination in the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom. Lemon Spritz was inspired by Bottega Spritz, a cocktail made from sparkling wine, Limoncino and mint leaves.
Lemon Spritz combines white sparkling wine and mint with an infusion of lemons organically grown in Sicily. Its bubbles rise from the sparkling wine, not from the addition of carbon dioxide.
The second release, Green Gin The Wild Bottega, is characterised by herbaceous notes and a bouquet of botanicals including juniper, lemon, mandarin, hemp seeds, wild fennel and basil. It is a distilled dry gin made with water from the Alps and botanicals from different regions of the Italian peninsula.
The botanicals are left to macerate separately and kept in a hydro-alcoholic solution; a double distillation is then carried out which cleanses the liquid of any undesirable scents. Green Gin The Wild Bottega comes in a 70cl bottle and the brand recommends mixing it with Mediterranean tonic water to enhance herbaceous notes.
Bottega SpA President Sandro Bottega said: “In the last three years the global travel retail market, more than the domestic one, has been subject to strong fluctuations. Our company, thanks to the careful collaboration of the main operators, has overcome the difficult moment and returned to pre-pandemic levels.
“Perhaps the so-called new normal consists of the ability to quickly adapt to sudden changes, not just due to the market but external events. Lemon Spritz and Green Gin The Wild Bottega are an expression of this sentiment.” ✈
