CHINA. Beam Suntory is introducing Bowmore 22 Year-Old Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish to global travel retail via an exclusive allocation of 3,085 bottles to China Duty Free Group (CDFG) across China.
The limited-edition expression from the island of Islay, Scotland has been aged for 18 years in a batch of four different types of casks, including butts, barrels and hogsheads. It was then further enriched for four years in five European oak Pedro Ximénez casks.
Selected by Bowmore Master Blender Ron Welsh, the whisky has been bottled at the perfect time to optimise its character, the company said.
It is described as shimmering deep chestnut in colour, with an aroma that promises exotic fruit and sea salt swirling gently alongside Bowmore’s subtle smoky notes.
Welsh said: “We are always looking for ways to expand our portfolio of exceptional whiskies and the opportunity to introduce new flavours. We are excited to add the Spanish flair associated with Pedro Ximénez sherry to the heritage and character made famous by Bowmore to make this perfect combination.
“I have no doubt that travellers and whisky lovers across China will be pleased to experience this wonderful addition to the Bowmore family.”
Beam Suntory Marketing Director of Global Travel Retail Manuel González said: “We are delighted to launch the Bowmore 22 Year-Old Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish exclusively to global travel retail in China.
