SWITZERLAND. Swatch gears up for the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin in February with a new watch collection comprising a line dedicated to the event, two to winter sports and an updated urbanwear line.

“Face the mountain” is the message underlying the Winter Sport, Next!, Olympic Collection and Fun Boarder watch lines, says the company.

“With its evocative names, [the collection] goes beyond wellbeing and aspires to a fuller life: ardour, audacity, intrepidness and energy,” it adds.

As for the motifs employed in Next!, the company asks you to “draw the counterforce from aggressive images”.

“The spider embodies freedom; the scorpion represents the will to win; the skull is the life force itself,” it says.

Below are some of the models featured in the collection:


SFK244G Annelli e Stelle Olympic Collection A 3.9mm-thick Skin model inspired by the Turin 2006 emblem. Polished steel bracelet; silver-coloured hour and minute hands.	SULN100 Technical Scale Olympic Collection Reminiscent of the Turin Mole, the model depicts the emblem on two white bands. A pressure sensor for altitude is on the side at 9 o’clock.

SVCM4003 Too Fast Winter Sport A Diaphane synthetic watch combining embossed fishing net motif, orange strips with raised edges, in grooved olive green. An aperture at 3 o’clock reveals the date.	YCS469G Technical Race Winter Sport An Irony steel chrono designed like a dashboard. Brushed steel bezel with concentric lines and black tachometer markings.

SULB101 Face the mountain Fun Boarder A simple strap that loops into the buckle like a canvas military belt lends the model its utilitarian feel.	Sulk100 Snowy Sky Fun Boarder This microchip-imbedded Snowpass model comes in a combination of blue, white and grey, reflecting the winter environment.
