Brisbane Airport hosted its annual Barista Competition in the Queensland hub’s Domestic terminal this week, with Nicola Houghton from the Airport Retail Group’s Windmill & Co claiming the top prize.
Highlighted in a LinkedIn post, seven finalists competed in front of a live audience. The contestants were evaluated on their customer service, speed of delivery as well as quality of coffee as part of their overall score.
Runner-up was Daniella Fensom from Graze (SSP Australia & New Zealand) with Jennie Mae Cabrega from Krispy Kreme in third place.
Brisbane Airport Corporation Executive General Manager Commercial Martin Ryan congratulated all the contestants. The airport thanked representatives of the Wolff Coffee Roasters for their expertise in mentoring and training and for judging the competition.
It also underlined its commitment to helping its retail partners enhance their skills through this targeted training programme, aiming to offer passengers “ the best coffee experience”.
As reported, Airport Retail Group’s Katie Selwood was named Brisbane Airport Barista Champion 2023 in July last year.
