AUSTRALIA. Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is seeking proposals from potential partners for fashion, accessories and gifts concessions as part of a A$40 million redevelopment of its Domestic Terminal.
In its Request for Proposals (RFP), BAC is seeking retailers to run 18 units ranging in size from 35sq m to 204sq m. These are situated in prominent locations across the departures area (level 2) of the terminal. Most of these spaces have not before been available to market before.
The RFP will close on 30 August.
The new retail locations will be complemented by an upgraded food & beverage offer that will include restaurants and bars, plus a refurbished Qantas café court.
As reported, Brisbane Airport recently completed stage one of the retail redevelopment in the Domestic Terminal, with a A$15 million upgrade of the Virgin pier in June 2016. This saw the introduction of 19 new retail concessions including an upgraded food & beverage offer with a number of brands opening their first stores in the Queensland or Australian market.
In January 2019, BAC will assume full operational control across the terminal to create a single facility with common systems. This transition will be the catalyst for stage two of the retail redevelopment including a A$40 million upgrade of the Domestic Terminal and retail offerings in the Northern (Qantas end) and central areas of the terminal.
Works should begin in late 2018 and will deliver 51 new and refurbished stores with new retail and food & beverage options, taking the total number of retail shops in the terminal to 70.
