British Airways opts for the High Life as web offer gains exclusivity – 22/11/07

Spreading its web: British Airways is reaching out to its consumers before they travel


UK. British Airways’ online shopping offer – already one of the industry’s best in our view – gains extra lustre this month.

The revamped, redesigned site now features a range of “˜web exclusives’, including three special ranges – Pre-Travel Essentials, Premium Collection and BA Collectibles.

The website allows travellers to browse – and pre-order – before they fly with goods delivered to the door (apart from liquor, tobacco, Chanel, Montblanc and Estée Lauder Companies items).

Premium Collection features 28 new items, ranging from a £50 Billy Bag Lunar Purse to The Dalmore 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon Finish single malt whisky at £349.

Pre-Travel Essentials offers a wide range of items across five web pages, including an array of Lonely Planet travel guides, travel pillows, sun screen and torches.

BA Collectibles is another diverse offering, this time featuring four pages of BA-themed memorabilia and souvenirs.

The changes are detailed in the November/December edition of High Life Shop, British Airways’ inflight shopping guide.

COMMENT: Both British Airways’ shopping website and its inflight shopping magazine are outstanding examples of their respective genres, notably for their bright, direct communication and the diversity and freshness of the offers.
