Leading drinks group Brown-Forman has released the travel retail-exclusive Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured.
Bottled at 51.5% ABV, this single malt is now available at key international airports for a recommended retail price of US$4,500.
Described as the ultimate expression of Benriach, it was laid down in 1976 and then moved into three octave casks in 2011 for final maturation. It was bottled in September 2017 and preserved at the peak of its maturation.
These three octave casks, with an eighth of the size of a regular cask, were crafted from the staves of American oak bourbon casks.
The three-cask maturation process used for The Forty Octave Cask Matured brings to life the flavours of orchard and dark fruits and a silken oak finish.
Brown-Forman Marketing Director Global Travel Retail Stéphane Morizet said: “The initial launch of the Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured was not physical but digital, offered as an NFT (Non-Fungible Token).
“Ten luxury twin sets with two bottles – one Benriach The Forty and one Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured – were available exclusively on the NFT marketplace BlockBar.com from October 11, 2022 for US$8,000 each, to be swapped with the products which are now physically available.” ✈
