UK. Birmingham’s budget airline MyTravelLite has become the first airline in the UK to offer passengers the option of pre-ordering their meals.
The meal service, launched by Alpha Airports Group, allows passengers to pick from a menu of nine meals including salads, sushi and sandwiches. Children get a “Funbox” option, which gives them the choice of 18 snacks, including yogurt, rolls, drinks and fruit.
Orders can be placed up to 36 hours before a flight. Passengers can choose their dish when booking their seat with the airline and pay for their meal then. The meals will then be delivered onto the aircraft.
Alpha Inflight Retail division Managing Director Paul Possamai said: “MyTravelLite customers book their flight over the internet and can organise accommodation and car hire over the web, so why not give them the pleasure and certainty of ordering a quality inflight meal as well?
“MyTravelLite offers low-cost travel but this doesn’t mean that customers don’t have money to spend. Alpha D’Lish provides the airline with a new revenue stream and offers customers a real plus to their travel experience.”
