Burberry unveils Trench Collection sunglasses for Autumn/Winter 2014

Burberry has introduced the Autumn/Winter 2014 Trench Collection of sunglasses and optical frames, created to celebrate the launch of the new My Burberry women’s fragrance.

Designed in Britain and made in Italy, the collection of hand-assembled frames is said to underline the brand’s heritage in craftsmanship and innovation. According to Burberry, the collection was inspired by the iconic Burberry trench coat and reflects many of its signature design details.

“Square, butterfly and cat-eye shaped sunglasses are crafted in horn-effect acetate, reflecting the buttons of the trench coat and the distinctive design of the My Burberry bottle cap,” the company stated. “Clear temples mirror the My Burberry glass bottle; while check details are taken from the trench coat’s iconic lining, first used as a badge of origin in the 1920s.” The collection also includes square-shaped opticals in horn-look acetate.

Under the creative direction of Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey, the Trench Collection is featured as part of the Burberry AW14 global media campaign.

The media campaign was shot by Peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino. It features British models and actresses Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse and Malaika Firth wearing the Trench Collection eyewear with AW14 Burberry trench coats, the Colour Block Check Blanket Poncho and cashmere scarves.

BE4188 features square acetate sunglasses in four combinations: horn-look acetate front with brown gradient lenses, horn-like acetate temples with gold foil Burberry logo; horn-look acetate front with brown gradient lenses, clear acetate temples with check engraved gold foil Burberry logo; clear acetate front with brown gradient lenses, horn-look acetate temples, gold foil Burberry logo; and black acetate front with grey gradient lenses, clear acetate temples with check engraved gold core wire.

BE4189 offers butterfly acetate sunglasses with brown gradient lenses in three combinations: horn-look acetate front and temples with gold foil Burberry logo; horn-look acetate front, clear acetate temples with check engraved gold core wire; and clear acetate front, horn-look acetate temples with gold foil Burberry logo.

BE4187 features cat-eye acetate sunglasses with brown gradient lenses in: horn-look acetate front and acetate temples with gold foil Burberry logo; horn-look acetate front, clear acetate temples with check engraved gold core wire; and clear acetate front, horn-look acetate temples with gold foil Burberry logo.

The Trench Collection eyewear is available on Burberry.com and in Burberry stores, as well as in travel retail and selected retailers worldwide. Recommended retail price is €180.
