CabinZero offers solutions to low-cost airline carry-on restrictions

UK luggage, bag and accessories brand CabinZero is highlighting its carry-on products and hip packs as at least two low-cost airlines enforce strict new bag restrictions.

CabinZero said travel retailers can help passengers potentially caught out by new cabin bag rules, which come into force on 1 November on Ryanair and Wizz Air flights, by offering last-minute alternatives.

With new carry-on bag restrictions looming, CabinZero is highlighting its range of lightweight, soft bags.

“From this date non-priority customers will only be allowed one free small carry-on bag or will need to pay for extra baggage allowance,” CabinZero CEO Neil Varden said.

“Ryanair has stated that if their bag doesn’t fit, non-priority customers will have to pay €25 at the gate for their bag to be tagged and placed in the hold. This is going to catch out an awful lot of passengers who won’t realise their bags don’t fit until they reach the gate.

“This is going to be a very real problem all over the UK and Europe for thousands of passengers, but definitely does offer an opportunity for retailers on the ground,” he said.

“It’s not just about the additional cost involved at the gate, but many passengers won’t want to check in their bags either because of additional time lost on arrival or because they need items carried on the journey, particularly technical items such as iPads, laptops etc.”

CabinZero carry-ons weigh 600g to ensure passengers can make the most of their onboard weight allowance.

Varden believes that retailers should consider explanatory signage and airside merchandising to offer bags that will fit the required dimensions.

CabinZero bags are soft and flexible, with side compression straps to avoid over-packing. The 28L is available in a range of designs and over 20 colours. It weighs 600g, ensuring that passengers can maximise their onboard weight allowance.

CabinZero’s larger 44L bags are also available in a range of styles and colours and weigh from 760g. All bags include lost and found tags and come with a ten-year guarantee which can be upgraded for free to 25 years by registering on the CabinZero website.

Varden also highlighted CabinZero’s range of hip packs which are not included as carry-on bags. “When carry on space is critical then hip bags can really help,” he added.
