Cadbury gives the Americas gum market more options – 12/10/09

Trident Bubblegum makes its Americas travel retail debut

UK. British confectionery company Cadbury launched a variety of new chewing gum variants and flavours into the Americas travel retail market last month.

Trident, the number one gum in the Americas, is expanded with two products: Trident Bubblegum and Trident Original. The sugar-free brand started life in the US in 1964 and was the first such chewing gum to be nationally distributed.

New to the Dentyne brand in travel retail is Dentyne Fire in a spicy cinnamon flavour, while Bubblicious, described as a soft, “no-face-sticking” bubblegum, made its debut in travel retail in September with two variants: Bubblicious Watermelon and Bubblicious Strawberry.

Stride, billed as “the ridiculously long-lasting gum”, is launching in travel retail with three of its most popular flavours: Winterblue, Sweet Peppermint and Spearmint. The product comes in re-sealable packs that feature “tear and share” packaging, allowing shoppers to share packs easily.

Cadbury Regional Manager for the Americas Tiho Marinac said: “We have worked hard to diversify and expand our brand portfolio within the channel to ensure that our gum offer meets the shoppers’ needs. As a result, we are delighted to offer travelling shoppers more of their favourite gum brands in a range of flavours available across an extensive range of popular destinations.”
