CANADA. Canadian airport duty free sales grew by +2.8% to C$22.7 million in the month of August, according to the latest figures published by the Frontier Duty Free Association. In the period from January to August, airport duty free sales reached C$164 million, up +8% from the corresponding period last year.
National land border duty free sales for August amounted to C$19.3 million, a year-on-year increase of +13%.
Sales during the January-August period grew approximately +3% to C$95.8 million compared to the same period in 2011.
Land border regional sales figures
Prairie: The Prairie region saw sales growth of +16.27% to about C$1.2 million in August. For January-August, sales reached C$6.7 million, representing growth of about +6%.
Pacific: Pacific sales grew +16% to C$3.4 million, while January-August sales equaled C$16.7 million with an increase of +4%.
Ontario: The Ontario sales figure for August is C$10.2 million, representing an increase of +13.47% year-on-year. For January-August sales reached C$52 million with an increase of +3.61%.
Atlantic/Quebec: The sales figure for Atlantic/Quebec for August is C$4.4 million, representing a +9% sales increase. January-August sales grew +3% to C$20 million compared to the previous year.

2. Tobacco, Cigars, Loose Tobacco
3. Perfume, Cosmetics, Skincare
4. Beer (beer, malt-based coolers)
5. Food
6. Jewellery, Watches, Clocks
7. Accessories (purses, wallets, sunglasses, etc.)
8. Clothing (including hats, fur, leather)
9. Souvenirs
10. Office and Travel Supplies
11. Glassware, crystal, china, figurines, porcelain
12. Other
13. Crafts/Arts
14. Electronics, Cameras, Binoculars, etc.
