Capi opens tablet computer shop-in-shop at Schiphol Airport

Capi’s new shop-in-shop consists of a touch-and-feel presentation dedicated to all kinds of tablets and accessories

NETHERLANDS. Airport electronics retailer Capi has launched a shop-in-shop dedicated to tablet computers in its Lounge 2 store at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Responding to the boom in tablet usage among travellers, Capi recently reviewed and renewed its assortment in a bid to offer travellers innovative and trendsetting products and, as a result, has adapted its store at Schiphol Airport to tap this trend.

The new shop-in-shop consists of a touch-and-feel presentation dedicated to all kinds of tablets, and the largest display of tablet accessories yet, Capi said.

Apple has a prominent position in the shop with an official Apple iPad presentation. The touch-and-feel concept enables customers to experience the products first-hand.

“All A-brands are presented, giving customers a comprehensive overview of the innovations available,” said the Dutch operator.

“Around the tablet devices themselves, travellers will find an extensive range of iPad accessories, covers, cases and screen protectors, displayed in a clear and attractive way, consistent with Capi’s new shop concept.”

The new shop-in-shop also seeks to show that Capi has the ability and flexibility to continue catering to all types of travellers.

Bringing emotion into electronics retail

“Customers and our own shop staff are really enthusiastic about the new tablet display,” said Capi Airport Manager Rogier Berrens. “We recently had an American gentleman coming into the shop saying ‘this is heaven!’ With reactions like that, we are sure we are on to a good thing.”

Added Capi Manager Purchase Joost Christiani: “This shop-in-shop concept is in line with our strategy of bringing emotion into electronics retail.

“We aim to provide our visitors with the newest high-quality products on the market, and this shop-in-shop allows us to display Apple products and accessories in the best possible way to our visitors. We are proud of this presentation and are convinced it is an asset to customers and the airport alike.”

Capi explained: “Capi wants to be at the forefront of the boom in tablet computers as they have become an essential product group in electronics retailing, and we aim to bring this product group to an even higher level by means of the new shop-in-shop.

“Tablets are mobile products and therefore popular, especially amongst travellers. Capi is the ideal partner to cater to these travellers, banking on years of experience in the travel retail industry. Exciting new tablet accessories have taken the market by storm.”
